After responding to Marta's question about spell checking using HJPad I
wanted to add a few comments regarding Jarte, which I suggested as an
alternative.
First, as far as I know Jarte does not have a grammar checker even if
you pay to upgrade to Jarte Plus. However, when using Jarte in its
screen reader mode the spell checker is a joy to use as long as you
understand that it will not detect errors with grammar. I believe this
is one area where HJPad has an advantage over Jarte but I'm not 100%
sure of this because I rarely use HJPad.
Second, I found the following statement on Jarte's Web site
<https://www.jarte.com/help_new/screen_reader_mode.html>about screen
reader mode.
"If Jarte does not recognize your screen reader program then you can
force Jarte to switch to screen reader mode by copying the phrase
"enable screen reader mode" to the Windows clipboard before starting
Jarte. This only needs to be done one time.
Note to JAWS users: Jarte is currently unable to recognize the presence
of the JAWS screen reader. If you are using JAWS then you will need to
use the method described in the preceeding paragraph to force Jarte into
screen reader mode."
