Normally when they talk about 12 it means the midpoint and that normally refers
to eq i.e. the base, mids, and treble buttons. So from 12, the midpoint, if
you turn left you will be decreasing the effect of the setting or if you turn
right you will be increasing the effect of the setting.

Many of the videos I watch on YouTube talk about there amp or pedal settings,
often referencing the number 12 as a sort of default setting. The dials on my
Marshall have nothing that might help in a tactile sense to indicate when they
are pointing to 12. There are ways round this of course by using things like
bumpons, but to begin with, I’d like to know where the 12 setting is, and how
far the dial actually goes beyond there.
