Hi Andy,
When someone says '12' I would normally take this to mean 12 o clock as in
the dial would be pointing upwards as if it were pointing to 12 on a clock.
This is normally about half of a full turn or 3/4 of a turn depending on
the type of dial. If you have an example of where they say it though feel
free to send it to me and I can double check what they mean
