You could have an older kindle, but most things will work. It should not
take more than an hour probably less to update unless you got lots of
movies, audible books or music to upload and or download.
I have found some good apps and you might consider making it use android
apps. I have not done that yet but others here have.
For the money it's a good machine. When smartphone died I could still look
at files. Read emails. Communicate.
