I feel much the same. There have been many books I picked up because
the story *sounded* good, but when I actually started the book the
poor quality of the writing put me off so much I gave it up and moved
on. I think being able to sample (much the way someone in a bookstore
can read a few pages) would help a lot.

Ah well, maybe some day. It's still a big step forward for
accessibility even without sampling or tts enabled on all books.
