Mike,
When you are on a page in the book. You could swipe one finger left to right to
read line by line. Then, if you are interested in locating a word on the page,
you can also use one finger to swipe from the top to the bottom of the page to
locate the word you want to find...
That is how I remember using it. Although I am a relatively new user of the
fire, I have read around thirty books on it already. But again, I usually read
in continuous mode.
One thing for certain, you can never go wrong when using the fire. In other
words, it's about trial and error. If you happen to encounter difficulties, the
expertise in this group always manages getting us out of the trap😊

Hello, Joseph,
Thanks for your input. I am well aware of the tutorials in the Kindle Fire, at
least for the common gestures. However, it was my understanding (and this
might be totally inaccurate) that there were additional gestures from within
the reading app. If this is not the case, then my question is out of order.
For reasons which I have stated in other messages, reading the VoiceView and
Kindle Fire manuals ard difficult for me since they are in German, and despite
several attempts by me and others, we can’t get my device to speak German.
Truth be told, I’d rather read this stuff in English anyway, but since I am
located in Austria, my Kindle Fire automatically downloads the manuals and
tutorials in German.
Kindest regards,
Mike

Mike, not to state already known information, but re-running the tutorials in
the fire can help you navigate through these options.
That will help tremendously in my opinion.

Hi.
I know about that gesture, but there were others as well. Nonetheless, thank
you.

HI.
don’t have the list, but I think it’s double tap and hold on a word to
select it.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

Hello everyone,
I just purchased and downloaded my first Kindle book onto my Kindle Fire.
Ordering the book went seamlessly.
When I started reading the book, however, I started encountering problems.
When I tried to select a word in the book to look up, although I know that
my finger was on one of the characters within that word, I could not make a
menu pop up to do anything with the word in question. If I am not mistaken
(and I very well could be) there are special gestures for manipulating text
in a Kindle book. Someone on this list was kind enough to post that list,
but I accidentally deleted it.
Please, if someone could, would it be possible to post that list once
again? Or, could someone point me to a URL where I might find that list as
well. Since I am still having multilingual issues, looking at the help
documentation on my Kindle fire is, unfortunately, still an arduous
process, and that is why having that list in an e-mail posting might be
best.
Best regards and thanks,
Mike
