Ridge I would just get a longer handle if that is what works. If you feel the D rings are not in a good place, extra rings could be attached as well so stick with what Clyde works well in. I played around with a couple lengths and offsets before I resolved the right size issue. Now that I am happy with it for this harness, I feel the need for a bit more stability of the handle so will be working on overhauling the harness design- but its still going to be very much this same style body. Thane and I work well with it. I have Met's very old guide harness. We did not use it much but its sufficiently detoxed. Thane won't have anything to do with just putting on the main harness part. Its just not comfy plain and simple. I was only using it as an idea on size- had no intentions of using it on him as I know the pitfalls I had with it when working Met. Go for it with the longer handle and see how things work out. For what its worth, my issues with Met and the harness were actually the same as yours, we needed the strap further back because it was too hard to pad it right so it would not rub his legs- they just were not designed for his framework. As for the retrieve, I am pretty much in the same boat you are. I can work with toys of his now but not initially, but I really don't want to do that for the official training here. When its something of mine the jaws close down and nope not with the item in them LOL I will try things though until I find something that works. I suspect in Thane's case it was like Met, he was taught not to mess with others things before I even got him so its going to be a timely process. I find Thane will accidentally do something if we get all lively so this winter we will be giving it our best shot. I backed off of trying to train it this summer. Before I did so he would not even offer a take of his ball or a toy in a manner that was involving me so we have made progress. I am sorry about the comment about Clyde not being real. All that the ADA requires is they be individually trained (task trained) to mitigate your disability. I've heard about a lot of *iffy* placements out of that group so I am glad that Clyde is working out so well with you after your experience with Buckley. Karyn and Thane
