Hello Karyn and Met,
I hadn't looked at the list for a few days, and this is the first
message I've read just now.
It's really sad to hear that you'll have to retire your old boy.
Pretty is also having some spine problems these days. I was at the
vet's this morning, and she gave Pretty some more omeopathic remedies
to help with her pain.
It always gets worse during the summer, because she tends to sleep on
the floor; she often swims and, as we sleep with an open window, the
humidity of the night doesn't do her any good.
Pretty will be six in November, but she's got spine problems from
birth, although she's usually doing very well compared to other guide
dogs I've known, who are or were in the same situation.

By the way, talking about arthritis, has anybody ever tried DGP?
I would like to try it on Pretty, but I would have to buy it from the
U.S., with shipping costs that almost exceed the cost of the product itself.
I have some friends who are travelling to the U.S., and I was
thinking of asking them to bring me a few bottles, but I won't if you
tell me it's useless.

Karyn, I really hope you'll find a good successor for Met, and that
Met will ive a few more years as a happy dog, and a fantastic friend.
A big hug and lots of wags,
Ollie & Pretty
