Hi Gary,
I was just listening to a podcast by Mike Arrigo on installing ROMs.
Although it was a couple years old, it was somewhat helpful.
He likes CyanogenROM because it is very "stock Android".
Is Omni or Carbon like that too?
If you say that you can load TalkBack without sighted assistance, that is a
strong persuader.
How about the install process.
Do either or both use a windows installer?
Does one have less steps than the other?
Please excuse any obvious questions, I just want to do this right the first
time.
Thanks.
Glenn

How can I help you. I posted about omni and carbon roms. Cyanogen is not
accessible with the accessibility to start up talkback unless you have
someone sighted help you, so I would avoid cyanogen mod as that may end up
being acquired by Microsoft an then we wont know what will happen to
cyanogen mod. So stick to either omni or carbon for your s3 if you want a
working rom that has accessibility features that you can enable and get
talkback up and running on your own without asking for sighted help. For the
initial set up I would just have a pair of eyes around just in case
something does not go as expected, but after the first initial set up and
install, then your good and you can do all the updating and all that on
your own of the rom and the gapps package hwen need be.

Subject: [vi-android] installing a ROM

Hi All,
I am still studying different ROMS for my Galaxy S3, before proceeding.

On one list, which I cannot get my messages to for some reason,
("eyes-free") and yet I receive the messages, one person posted about
OmniROM and Carbon, and Quentin here posted about CyanogenMod.
I am hoping a screenreader user can inform me of which mods work with a
screenreader, during the install, and then after that, which of the mods
work best with TalkBack.
Maybe there is not much difference with the different mods once they are
installed, as long as they include TalkBack, I just don't know.
Finding information on this from a Blind user's perspective is a challenge.
We need some YouTube videos/audios on this.
Thanks for any information.

Glenn
