You make a very good point. It maybe is! device specific. I doubt it, but I
guess anything's possible. Anyone got an S7 Edge, or an S8 Plus they wanna test
with?

Running Talkback 5.2.1 or so. I don’t have the newest phone (Samsung J
something or other running Android 5) but I have been keeping all the
applications up to date whenever possible.
Today I confirmed that Talkback on my phone does announce the successful
instalation of an app. I went to the playstore and downloaded the facebook app.
It took several minutes, and when done, talkback announced “successfully
installed: Facebook” or something like that. My girlfriend confirmed this was
because of a popup appearing on the screen. So I don’t think it’s a talkback
feature as such. Maybe there is a setting to decrease the level of verbosity? I
can imagine some folks thinking the screen reader talks too much, and might not
want to hear such messages. Or else, the behaviour of the screenreader and
certain phones is just inconsistent? I really don’t know.

What version are you running of TB, as you're the first person with an
updated quote unquote version, who clames that this still works for them.

I am still pretty new to this Android (and smartphones generally), but as
far as I know I have an updated version of Talkback, and it does indeed say
“app-name was successfully installed” when I download and install a programme.
But there’s plenty of odd behaviour to go round and I basically have no
explanation for anything. I’m not a power Talkback user and there are still a
lot of things I don’t really grasp. Anyway, somehow I’m not surprised that
Talkback behaviour is not universal across the board.

I remember back in the days, Talkback would do something really really cool
when in the play Store installing an app.
It used to be once double tapping on install, once installed, Talkback
would automatically say, app name was successfully installed.
Now, you have practically no indication. If it wasn't for my very little
vision being able to see that the open and uninstall icons appear in green near
the right middle of the screen, I'd have no way to know when it was done aside
just looking every so often.
I'm wondering how hard it would be for this to be reimplemented, as I
really thought that was a very very nice thing to have. I was saddened to see
the feature stop working.
Chris.
