Hi,
I think I know what it is.
When we are in Grade 2, and the file is not a .BRF file, of course it
translates. When it does this, it keeps just one word at the beginning of the
display line.
This is unlike other note takers, like the Polaris or Braillenot Touch, which
translate as soon as you press space or a punctuation key and refresh the whole
line. You have to in fact, press enter to translate the line.
I have a feeling her default file format has changed to something other than
.BRF. This can happen if you save document.rtf for example, it takes precedence
over the factory default.
This is OK, but I think the VU could do better at translating as soon as a word
is terminated and refreshing the line.
Still, that would be for a firmware update, if it ever happens.
Thanks Paula.
All the best
Steve

Hi, Steve,
I’m puzzled, as I use Grade 2 braille and don’t have this problem. Is it
possible the customer is trying to type Grade 2 braille into a text file? It
might be helpful to walk through creating a document together and have the
person double-check the file extension that comes up.
Hope that helps,

Subject: [varioultra] Typing in Grade 2 on the VarioUltra
Hi all,
I have a query from one of my customers, as I resell the Vario in the UK.
Is it possible to have the Braille display show words as you type, rather than
putting a single word on the display line until you press enter?
It does this with Computer Braille, but not in contracted Braille. In other
words, it doesn’t translate until you hit enter, but there seems no way to
review what you have written on a single line.
Thanks for any help.
All the best
