So I am sending this scenario to the list because it has happened a couple
of times recently, and I think other times in the period I have owned the
Vario Ultra 40. Last night I settled to read and so forth in bed using my
phone. I neglected to charge the VU, but believe that the power was off.
This morning I awoke realizing that the unit was not charging and knowing
that I wanted to start my work day at a pretty full charge. I plugged the
unit in and engaged in the activities of getting ready for my day. There
were about 2 hours the unit charged from my power strip. I got to the office
and wanted to find information contained on the VU. The unit was off so I
turned it on. After booting up, it gave me the w warning 0% and informed me
that there would soon be a shut down. Recall that it charged for something
like 2 hours. I am in my office and I have access to power and even often
connect the unit by USB anyway to use as a display for my desktop PC. I
turned the unit off because I did not want a forced shut down. I plugged it
in and saw almost an entire line of the full dots cells to graphically
indicate battery percentage. I next restarted the VU because there appeared
to be plenty of battery after all as I would have expected. Once booted I
called up the battery percentage, which was 72%. This is about what I
expected from the beginning as the unit drained overnight and I did not
think I charged long enough for a full charge. Perhaps the 0% and shut down
was an old message that did not leave the display? Maybe the unit reset once
I turned off, plugged in and turned on again? If I were not in a place where
I had access to power, I would have been a bit concerned. Has this happened
to others?
Best
