Hi,

Last night we netted a 90.7 gram Northern Saw Whet Owl we banded Oct. 28, 2016
as a Hatch Year female.

Seeing it is now January we have a SY (second year) little girl who presumably
is over-wintering here.

She is in great condition and a mere 4.4 grams lighter than she was in October.

No moon last night. The forest was still and serene.

Also including a photo my husband took while cleaning out a Wood Duck box in
Pittsylvania County, VA a couple weeks ago...we've seen/heard this little
Grey-phase Screech Owl many times over the years.

ps. Any last minute folks who would like to join the James River Winter Count
tomorrow-Huguenot Flatwater territory could use help. Please email me off the
list if you are interested. Thanks.
