That's what it was! I just flew in from Texas yesterday early evening. I was driving by Short Pump on 64 when an unusual Accipter flew over. I almost wrecked trying to figure out what it was. I kept thinking what was that pale-ish, small raptor that flew over. Totally unlike anything I usually see around here. I was dismissing my site from a long trip and didn't even think to consider the unusual. Thanks for the post, Robert McLemore Maidens, VA ________________________________ From: akb <arun1bose@xxxxxxxxx> To: Richmond Audubon Society mailing list <va-richmond-general@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, June 5, 2013 7:54 PM Subject: [va-richmond-general] Mississippi Kites Hello All, I had a call from Sergio Harding today with a report of Mississippi Kites that have been seen in a neighborhood in the Short Pump area for the past week or so. I contacted the home owner, Amy, and was able to observe 7 birds this evening just after 6 pm. She is open to birders coming to look for the birds. Please get in touch with me if you are interested in trying to see the Mississippi Kites. Arun Bose Richmond
