That's what it was! I just flew in from Texas yesterday early evening. I was
driving by Short Pump on 64 when an unusual Accipter flew over. I almost
wrecked trying to figure out what it was. I kept thinking what was that
pale-ish, small raptor that flew over. Totally unlike anything I usually see
around here. I was dismissing my site from a long trip and didn't even think to
consider the unusual.

Thanks for the post,

Hello All,
I had a call from Sergio Harding today with a report of Mississippi Kites that
have been seen in a neighborhood in the Short Pump area for the past week or
so.

I contacted the home owner, Amy, and was able to observe 7 birds this evening
just after 6 pm.

She is open to birders coming to look for the birds. Please get in touch with
me if you are interested in trying to see the Mississippi Kites.
