Highlights of the 26 or 27 species seen at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens this morning were: a long lasting sighting of the pair of Green Herons while a Great Blue Heron was visible too , and a Red Tailed Hawk briefly chased into roosting in a tree by a flock of several Fish Crows.A few novice birders attended their first birdwatching focused trip. There was a report of a brief sighting of what may have been American Bitterns while everyone was looking at the Green Herons . Based on head and neck behavior the observer saw this sighting could not be considered with 100 percent certainty as that of the fledgling Green Herons.
