The regular trip to Bryan Park this month produced beautiful weather and about 35 species or so (Sue, please post any I leave out): Canada Geese Blue Jays Downy Woodpecker R-b Woodpecker B Kingfisher Am Robins (all over) Commn Grackles E. Wood-Pewees Mallards American Black Duck (one) Grt Bl Herons Grt Crested Flycatchers Acadian Flycatcher Car Wrens T Titmice (titmouses?) Blue-gray Gnatcatchers Ruby-thr Hummingbird Wh-br Nuthatches N. Mockingbirds Car. Chickadees Barn Swallows (not many - most have left) Orchard Oriole (a surprise) Cooper's Hawk (probably 2 - a male and a female, though in separate parts of the park) Gr. Catbird Ind. Bunting F Crow American Crows N. Cardinal House Finches Am Goldfinches Eastern Towhee Red-tailed Hawk (with one of the Coops chasing it) Red-winged Blackbirds (all females) Great Horned Owl The owl was sitting in a pine tree. I and another person tried to relocate it later but without any luck. We did, however, add Turkey Vulture to the list. There was also an OSPREY flying and calling nearby as we left Stir Crazy (the restaurant - we didn't become sane suddenly :-).
