During a brief visit this morning to the beach about a mile south of the
Cape Charles harbor, I was somewhat surprised to find five semi-palmated
plovers as well as a single black-bellied plover and one common loon.
The semis all looked like adult birds but the black-bellied was in basic
(winter) plumage, so it is probably a first year bird that didn't
migrate. The loon was likewise still in basic plumage. The rest of the
meager list is below.
