Hi David,
Eagles have become much more common out here over the years, and now I no
longer consider it uncommon to see one flying low along the Moormans in the
very early morning when I exercise. On November 15, I saw a beautiful
adult perched at the top of a very large, mostly dead Tulip Poplar up from Joe
Jones' barn about 10 AM.
It's wonderful that they've rebounded so well.

I was at a property in Sugar Hollow (3 miles west of White Hall is western
Albemarle Co.) about 11:00 this morning listening to Ravens and watching
Turkey and Black Vultures when a 2nd year Bald Eagle, lower and closer than
the vultures, presented him/her self and circled the house for about 7
minutes. This was the first time I have seen an eagle on this property
although my neighbor (same driveway) saw an adult eagle within a mile of this
site
last week.
Coulda been a Santa-scout, I suppose.
