Dear Virginia Birders,
The owner of White House Farm is the father of 3 of my former students and he
is a very conservation-minded man who loves wildlife. (Aldo Leopold is his
hero.) The wild meadow on the river bank was once grazed by cattle right down
to the river. The first thing he did when he purchased the property was to
fence that off from the cattle in order to protect the river and make a
wildflower meadow buffer.
He was excited to hear about the Harris's Sparrow, but he requests that you
stay on the road as you search for or try to photograph the bird.

I just found a Harris's Sparrow along Kauffman's Mill Road just north of
the White House Boat Ramp in Page County. Have some identifiable photos
which I'll post as soon as I get home but wanted to get the word out in
case someone wants to chase this afternoon.
