Fantastic Ruth, Adam, and all, for confirming that there are definitely two
Snowy Owls! I will be out looking for both birds tomorrow, as I too, would
love to see two Snowy Owls within a mile in Rockingham County!

Yep, 2 Snowy Owls within a couple of miles of one another in Rockingham Co. We
were watching the bird in the Cecil Wampler Rd. cornfield when another couple
pulled up to say there was one sitting on one of the roofs at White Wave. We
went down there and sure enough, there was a second bird. It was darker
plumaged than the cornfield bird. At about 4:30 we went back to the cornfield
and the bird was still there but flew shortly after in a southeasterly
direction out of sight. Back to White Wave and watched the second bird until
dark. Pretty darn cool to see 2 individuals in one day in the mountains and
valleys of Virginia and great socializing with all the folks out there this
afternoon.

There are currently two Snowies over in the Valley: one seen at the White Wave
Food location and the other along Cecil Wampler Rd. I saw them both this
afternoon. Ruth From: monticellobirdalert@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Subject: [monticellobirdalert] Snowy? Hello, all. Does anyone know if the Snowy
seen recently in the Valley is still around, and if seen, can someone give me
directions? I am planning to drive over tomorrow afternoon from Charlottesville
if it’s likely that the bird is still around. Anyone who would like to come
with me, just let me know. I’ll be home until about 10:50, then will leave for
church and a meeting after church—would be heading to the Valley around 3 PM.
You can call me at home, 434-293-6538. And thanks in advance for any help. Ruth
