VA BIRDers,
VSO's Birding Team, The Roving Ravens will once again compete in the upcoming
World Series of Birding, to be held in New Jersey on May 10, 2003. Your team
is entering this event is to raise money for a variety of vitally important
avian conservation/research efforts sponsored by the VSO.
The Roving Ravens wil be represented Linda Fields, Alan Schreck and Kurt
Gaskill and are hoping to find 170-200 species during the 24 hour birding
event. Linda and Alan are veterans of the World Series of Birding.
Your support is ESSENTIAL to raise the funds to support valuable contributions
to Virginia's avian knowledge. You can support the Roving Ravens by making a
fixed dollar or a per-species pledge. And pledging is down-right easy! We
have set up three ways for you to contribute to this project.
(1) Visit Virginia's Birding Botanist Thelma Dalmas at the upcoming VSO meeting
in Charlottesville this weekend. Thelma will help sign you up and will answer
questions you may have about VSO's Research Committee plans.
(2) Drop an email to Kurt Gaskill, kurtcapt87@xxxxxxx
If you have any questions whatsoever, please include them and this fellow will
see that you get an answer. (Maybe even the one you're after!)
(3) Using our vaunted US Postal system, mail a note containing your pledge to
Kurt Gaskill, 4101 Komes Ct, Alexandria, VA 22306. Again, if you have any
questions, please add them to your note and this gaskill guy will get back to
you.
All supporters of the Roving Ravens will be acknowleged in an upcoming article
in the VSO newsletter.
And, as an added inducement to you opening your hearts and pocketbooks for
Virginia Avian Research, I promise to take the top two supporters of the Roving
Ravens out for birding this year - in Virginia, that is!
If any of you wish to mail a check, please make it out to the VSO-WSB.
On behalf of Linda, Alan, and the VSO let me thank you in advance for your
generous support for this important cause!
Wishing all of you good birds!
Kurt Gaskill
