Greetings,
I birded the G. Richard Thompson WMA in northwestern Fauquier County this
morning with my father from six-thirty AM until around nine AM. We parked at
the Trillium Trail parking area and did the loop down said trail, on the
Appalachian Trail, and then back up the fire road to the car.
The Trillium are looking nice, with most in bloom. Lots of May Apples too.
The trees up there are only partially leafed out, with some just starting to
break bud. Makes for easy viewing, at least for a few more days.
Nothing especially notable, and the species diversity was about the same as
my last trip there 25 April. New for this visit were a few Black-throated
Green Warblers and Rose-breasted Grosbeak.
eBird list follows.
Cheers,
Todd
