Hi all,
It looks like we will not be able to get offshore Sept. 20 due to lack of
enough participants. However, I am working with Brian Patteson to try
organizing a trip out of Rudee Inlet on Sept. 11. Please check your calendars
(and wallets) and let me know if you want to participate in a trip on Sept 11.
At this time, we would need at least 25 persons and cost would be
$75-100/person.
This would be a great opportunity to explore the offshore waters of VA with
Brian's exceptional bird finding and identifying skills. This time of year has
produced goodies such as White-faced Storm-petrel. A bird of this species was
recently sighted on a pelagic trip out of Lewes Delaware. It's also a great
time for seeing good numbers of jaegers of all three species (especially
Long-tailed). Other migrants such as Sabine's Gull are also possible along
with Cory's and Audubon's Shearwater as well as plenty of Wilson's Storm-petrel
and phalaropes.
As of this time, this date is tentative. I should have more info by the end of
this week. Please consider Sept. 11 and let me know if you can go.
Thanks,
Mike Boatwright--
