Yesterday from my 11th floor office window in Ballston (Arlington, VA) I saw a
turkey vulture soaring at eye level. I smiled to myself (knowing that the
other computer programmers in the room would have no clue about why it was nice
to see an "unusual, but otherwise common" bird out the window.
But today on my way in, I saw something even better! I dropped off the
boyfriend at the Rosslyn metro (Arlington, VA, next to the Potomac) and
exclaimed "LOOK, an osprey!!!" He at least would act surprised (though, of all
the birds, he likes "the big ones" a lot) and support me in my happiness.
As I pulled away happy with my osprey spotting, I saw two black vultures flying
over the tall buildings too.
I must not have spent the summer birding - I'm too pleased with my sightings
today!
