Fellow birders,
The highlights of a morning walk in McLean's Riverbend Park
continue to be the previously-reported Red-necked Grebe, which was seen off
the west side of Connecticut Island near a single Pied-billed Grebe,
Ring-necked Ducks and Bufflehead, an active Great Blue Heron rookery in the
middle of Connecticut Island and an active Bald Eagle nest at the eastern
end of this island. Highlights also included five Wood Ducks and three
Common Mergansers loafing on the rocks below the dam at the end of
Connecticut Island. No sign of migrants today, other than possibly the
Eastern Phoebes heard at the park. Common Grackles and the House Wren
singing in my neighbor's back yard.
