VA Birders,
Spending this rainy day at home, I looked out in the back yard at my
feeders and was surprised to find a PINE SISKIN (the first I have seen this
year)
on my thistle feeder with 2 AM. GOLDFINCHES this afternoon. I thought it was
late in the season to have a siskin here, so I checked my old Annotated
Checklist of Virginia Birds (published in 1987), which gave May 15 as the late
date
for this species in spring.
