VA Birders,
19 birders came out for a walk around OBNWR led by Bob Klarquist and myself.
We walked from the parking lot to Lake Road down to Painted Turtle Pond and
then followed Deep Hole Point Road all the way to the marsh. We then took Easy
Road back to our starting point. Common Yellowthroats and White-eyed Vireos
could be heard almost at all times throughout the walk. We also had what seemed
to be a constant stream of Blue Jays flying overhead throughout much of the
morning. Easy Road was warbler central with Prothonotary Warblers flying around
at the end of the road near the water, Yellow Warblers everywhere, and our only
Redstart sighting. Other highlights included a Wild Turkey, Indigo Buntings,
and Orchard Orioles.
