Jeff,
White-winged Scoter on Burke Lake this pm - subadult, interesting plumage.
Hanging out with a dozen Lesser Scaup. Also Ruddy Duck and a couple of Bank
Swallows mixed in with martins, Tree and Barn.

Subject: [va-bird] FOY Blackpoll, N. Parula, and Indigo Bunting (all in the
yard!)
My real birding is scheduled for tomorrow morning, starting at 430am,
but for today I just checked the yard and was rewarded with a FOY N.
Parula, Blackpoll, and Indigo Bunting. The Bunting was a new yard bird,
#83. Seems a bit early for the Blackpoll, but hey i am not going to
complain! It looks like all the local House Wrens, Thrasher, and
Catbirds are back. Still some winter species around, RC Kinglet,
Yellow-rumped Warbler, and WT Sparrow still very present.
I can not wait until tomorrow, Greg Beck and I are planning an Eastern
Prince William day and reading the reports by the uber-birders ;-) I am
salivating with anticipation!
