VA Birders,
On Tuesday( 9/26) Thirty species were in and around my property on Compton
Mt. Species included a male Blue-winged Warbler, a female Common Yellowthroat,
a male Hooded, a Tennessee Warbler, a Worm-eating Warbler, 3 Indigo Buntings,
4 Cedar Waxwings, a Wood Thrush and 6 Scarlet Tanagers.
On Wednesday (9/27) I counted 28 species. Some of those were a 1st year male
Common Yellowthroat, a pair of Hooded Warblers, a female Magnolia, a
Yellow-throated Warbler, a singing White-eyed Vireo, a Blue-headed Vireo, 2
Brown Thrashers, 1 Gray Catbird, a House Wren (uncommon in the area), 2 Indigo
Buntings, 2 Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, 1 male Scarlet Tanager, 1 Swainson's
Thrush and 2 Wood Thrushes.
Today (9/28), interesting species included a Nashville Warbler, a male
Bay-breasted Warbler, a Worm-eating Warbler, a Yellow-throated Warbler, a
singing Red-eyed Vireo, 2 Ruby-crowned Kinglets, a pair of Scarlet Tanagers, a
Sharp-shinned Hawk, an immature Cooper's Hawk and 9 Wild Turkeys.
