Nine Mississippi Kites sailed past College Creek Hawkwatch today, May 12th,
between 11:15 and 1:00. There were 3 together, then 2 were together and there
were 4 singles. Due to backlighting, I couldn't judge ages.
The only other migrants were 2 Black Vultures and 8 Turkey Vultures.
I conducted the watch from the local airport, which is about 2 kilometers
directly north across the marsh from the usual site, since the Colonial
Parkway
is closed this weekend for the Jamestown 400th Anniversary activities.
