Today, May 17th, bird number 1000 for the season at the College Creek
Hawkwatch near Williamsburg, was a Mississippi Kite....and so were birds 1002,
1003
and 1004! Because of the backlighting, I can't be sure of the ages of all of
the birds, though one was an adult. The birds passed the station at 11:23,
12:10
and 2 were at 12:22 (daylight savings time).
One bird circled the marsh for a minute after crossing the river. The other
three, just above treetop level, never even slowed down.
