VA-Birders,
Early this AM I birded Fort CF Smith Park in Arlington, and was able to add a
couple of migrants to my list for 06 - RED-EYED VIREO and HOUSE WREN. The REVI
was silent, but well seen as it hopped among some mid-range branches, and the
HOUSE WREN was singing incessantly in the oval patch of trees and shrubs at the
far end of the park from the parking lot. Other migrants include a NORTHERN
PARULA, two PALM WARBLERS (yellow), and others on the list below.
Other notables include two WOOD DUCKS passing low, hopefully heading for the
next box in the park, four remaining JUNCOS foraging with the building numbers
of CHIPPING SPARROWS, and a very nice male PURPLE FINCH that flew into a
treetop and started singing. Also, I noted one BROWN THRASHER there a couple
of days ago, but today there were two of them, apparently paired and flying
around together. DC CORMORANTS are also flying over the park more often than
usual. The morning's list is below:
