Showed up at just the right time for me...I arrived around 1:25p and the
first one showed up around 1:30p. White head and trailing white edge on wings
lit
up by the sun. First one swirled and swooped in the breeze against the billowy
white clouds and was soon joined by its mate. The pair circled for a a few
minutes and then one took off north as the second continued to rise on the
breeze. It floated off to the west. Just as it went out of sight, the second
one
returned and followed that pattern as well.
Carl Sandburg school is on Ft. Hunt Rd, Alexandria, just south of
Collingwood. As you pull into the school there is a long drive w. parking
spaces. I
usually swing around to the left and get close enough to the school itself to
get
a "big sky" view. I am careful around schools, but no one has ever hassled me
and there always seems to be a police car in the lot. Just don't wear the
propeller beanie - that always tips them off...
