Following my run this morning, I walked around the campsites at Newport
News Park to cool down. At a campsite near the water, I found an adult
Louisiana Waterthrush feeding a juvenile. The young bird was as big as the
adult. I then walked down to the boat launch area and found two more adults
feeding another juvenile. Again, the young bird was as large as the parents.
I always assumed the waterthrush bred in the park, but this was the first
evidence I've found.
