Howdy all,
Today was a surprising day at the banding station! After a good day
yesterday, I was expecting about 40-50 today but it turned out to better than
that! We,
again, banded 23 species today and ended up banding 108 individuals. Today
was almost a mirror image of yesterday.
We caught our sixth CONNECTICUT WARBLER of the season and our second HOODED
WARBLER. We saw a jump in AMERICAN REDSTART number today for a change and
VEERYS are still hanging around. We caught our first GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET of
the
season. And we ended the day by catching 5 of one of my favorite birds, BLUE
JAYS.
I hope the numbers hold on tomorrow, but I am really hoping that this front
coming Thursday will bring in more birds, and more birds for the Birding
Festival that starts here on the shore on Friday and running through the
weekend!!
As it looks now, it might be good weather for the festival! Last year was a
wash out!
We also caught a foreign recapture today. Not sure were it came from yet but
I will let you know when I know.
Also, MONARCHS are in!!!!!!!! Thousands of them around today!
Anyway, here are the days totals 10/3:
