Howdy all,
Today was not much of an effort from the banding station. The high winds
today kept most of our nets closed. We were able to run a few nets and did very
frequent net runs. We only managed to catch 8 species but had 150 individuals.
Of course, 141 were YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS. And by the looks of things,
tomorrow is going to be worse here. West winds are not good for the way our
banding
station is set up. Might have to call it off. But that's a wait and see.
Here are the totals for the day 10/23:
Black-throated Blue Warbler 1
Northern Waterthrush 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler 141
White-throated Sparrow 2
Eastern Towhee 1
Gray Catbird 2
Downy Woodpecker 1
Sharp-shinned Hawk 1
TOTAL -------------------------------- 150
Cheers,
Jethro Runco
