The 7 birders joining this morning's Huntley Meadows Monday Morning walk met
with a warm, humid and misty morning, and enjoyed their walk through the forest
made 'drippy' after a night of light rain. They reported a 41 species list
that included a Belted Kingfisher, Bald Eagle, and a couple of shorebirds.
Perhaps the most interesting sight, however, was not a bird, but rather
squadrons of butterflies, bees, and Dragon Flies exploring this year's abundant
crop of Swamp Milkweed. Monarchs, Tiger Swallowtails, Red Admirals and many
other species held the rapt attention of many on the Boardwalk this morning.
