I spent a little over five hours at Holliday Lake State Park (northeast of
Appomattox) today, 6/6/07, as part of the VSO State Park Breeding Bird Foray.
There were no surprises but here are a few highlights: seeing any SPOTTED
SANDPIPERS, especially three, as breeding has not been confirmed in this area;
the number of ACADIAN FLYCATCHERS, WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCHES (including at
least three pairs), NORTHERN PARULAS, SUMMER TANAGERS, & CHIPPING SPARROWS
especially since my numbers are conservative. The complete species list from
eBird follows.
