To all:
Son Jim and I went to the Julie Metz wetlands yesterday (28 Feb) and at
about 11:10 am we found the Harris's sparrow. His/her face sported the
beige patches, the tummy was white; the black around the face and under
the chin very noticeable. Did not see the pink bill because it was
eating - and kicking like a chichen or Towhee. That was distictive and
I can't recall if anyone else reported this. My son is not a birder as
such - and if he notices something it is meant to be noticed.
Also had a Common Grackle in the yard - first time 23 Feb and again
yesterday 28 Feb at my feeders - am doing the Cornell count this
weekend.
Hope this goes through.
