[va-bird] Great Dismal Swamp NWR, Suffolk; Apr. 24

Hello, birders.

Elisa Enders and I had a fun 1/2 day of birding at the
Dismal Swamp on Saturday, covering the entrance road
to Jericho Ditch, part of Jericho Ditch, the entrance
road to Washington Ditch, and the Dismal Town
Boardwalk at Washington Ditch.  Conditions were mild,
60s before sunrise to mid 70s in the early afternoon. 
Mostly cloudy, breeze after mid-morning.  Lots of
other birders were there, as well.  A partial list of
species is below:

-Killdeer, 5 at entrance to Wash. Ditch, incl. 3
roundish, cute, double-barred young
-Greater Yellowlegs, heard 1, flyover
-Yel.-billed Cuckoo
-Barred Owl, 3
-R.t. Hummingbird
-RED-HEADED WOODPECKER, 1 just before the parking lot
at Washington Ditch, at the top of a snag
-E.w. Pewee
-Acadian Flycatcher
-Gr.-crst. Flycatcher
-E. Kingbird
-vireos, White-eyed, Yellow-throated and Red-eyed
-Wood Thrush
-Gr. Catbird
-Cedar Waxwing, flock of 6
-warblers, No. Parula, Yel.-rumped, Yel.-throated,
Pine, Prarie, B&W, Prothonotary (most common warbler),
Swainson's (6, one seen pretty well, at length, which
was found by Elisa), Ovenbird (2nd most common
warbler), both waterthrushes, Com. Yellowthroat,
Hooded
-Swamp Sparrow
-Wh.-throated Sparrow
-Blue Grosbeak
-Indigo Bunting, only 2
