A friend and I went down around 10:30 this morning and got several good
looks, all around the silver bell/ feeder. What a treat to see. The
second time we saw it, it perched sideways to us and flared its tail
twice, showing a central rusty brown/rufous tail and three black lateral
feathers with white on them. I saw the white as round circles in a field
of black, but it was quick and I am not too experienced with hummingbird
tails. It had rufous sides at the edges of a whitish underbelly and the
necklace of black dots. I didn't notice a spot above.
If anyone has any other photos that they care to share, please do.
Happy Thanksgiving,
John
PS A common yellowthroat flew across and perched a minute, about halfway
down the walk from Indepencence Ave. Probably the same as one mentioned
in another post.
PPS The Arts and Industries Museum has a show on an artist named Walter
Anderson that I found inspirational. A wayward hummingbird and a great
artist made for quite a Saturday morning.
