Hey yet again VAbird,
All the pondering and speculation about these 2 hums is a great way to
charge up a cold, blustery day. Sure beats counting the House Sparrows at
my feeder. And to throw an observation out there, just wanted to point out
that female Rufous/Allens hums have a central throat patch, so it's
possible that the new hum is female. Really, none of us can be certain as
to the id or gender of either hum simply by studying it through nox or a
scope. Until these birds are banded, we can't be sure.
Hmmmmmm...if they're banded, what will we chat about???
