While nest hunting today, at 11:30 AM, we checked the area on Crenshaw Rd where
the SHORT-EARED OWLS have been. When I stepped to the edge of the fenceline, 2
birds flew up to my right about 40 ft away. They flew and lit upon fenceposts
just north of us. We didn't see any others around (although they could well
have been sitting in the deep grass).
As for raptor nests, we found 8 more with birds sitting on them:
RTHA - 6 (Clarke-1; Fauquier-1; Loudoun-3; Rappahannock-1)
RSHA - 2 (Fauquier-1; Loudoun-1)
Also, the Dulles Wetland Eagle was still on the nest.
