Howdy all,
The last two days have been pretty slow at the banding station. The wind
today was a bit much. Nothing too fancy was banded, but the ORANGE-CROWNED
WARBLER
today was a nice surprise. Today we almost caught nothing but warblers; one
HERMIT THRUSH for good measure. BUFFLEHEADS are really getting into the head
bobbing mode, while HOUSE FINCHES and CAROLINA CHICKADEES are really talking up
a storm.
We did find a Jefferson's Salamander yesterday. First one I have seen here in
the park. Turtles are quickly coming out throughout the park, and I found
three Broad-headed Skinks here at the house (on park property) the last few
days
as well. We found a small sprig of Phlox sp. blooming today as well. I hope
the warmer weather returns with calm winds!
Total for the 17th:

Total for the 18th:
Orange-crowned Warbler 1
Pine Warbler 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler 7

It's been fun watching an Osprey pair build a brand new nest next to the
banding station!
Cheers,
Jethro
