I have a question. Today I was birding on the Noland Trail of the Mariner's
Museum Park in the city of Newport News. I saw what I thought to be an
extremely large crow perched up in a tree, when it made a peculiar, deep
croaking noise and flew off. As it flew I again thought that it looked
abnormally large for a crow. Based on these observations, I identified it
as a Common Raven, though in all of the books I looked at the range maps
suggested that Hampton Roads would be a highly unlikely place to see one.
So I thought I would ask whether it is at all possible that what I saw was a
Common Raven, as it definately made a niose that I have never heard from a
crow. Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks.
