14 people participated in yesterday morning's regular monthly bird
walk at the 900 acre Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship
in northwestern Loudoun County. It was tough walking because there
was still an inch or two of ice on almost all the trails except those
places w/southern & western exposures.
While we found 34 species it was a pretty slow morning even for a cold
winter morning (it started at 21 & never got out of the 20's) we did
find both kinglets, a Raven, an American Tree Sparrow, & a raccoon
sleeping heavily in a cavity in a large oak.
