Hello all,
While working in the house earlier today, I heard a thump (not a window
strike). When I looked outside I could see a bird in the flowers right next to
the house.
My first thought was it looked like a cuckoo.
To my great surprise, it turned out to be a BLACK BILLED CUCKOO.
At first I thought it was on its last legs and when it stopped moving I figured
it was a goner. After watching for awhile, and not detecting any movement, I
went outside for a closer look, and it flew away! I could not tell if it
stopped in the trees along our common property line with a neighbor or kept on
going. It's still a mystery how it ended up hitting our house and landing in
the flower bed.
We are hoping it will stick around long enough for Carol to get a look at it.
As it is, this was a life bird for me.
Here's to a great weekend of birding.
