Ed Eder and I did some birding today covering Dyke Marsh down to Morningside
lane and back up to the Stone Bridge over Hunting Creek in conjunction with
opening day of count week for the DC Christmas Bird Count.
We found a total of five Great Egrets.
An adult male Baltimore Oriole and an immature male Baltimore Oriole were
foraging together at the northern end of the Belle Haven picnic area.
We also observed a lone Snow Goose in the company of a flock Canada Geese on
the west side of the Stone Bridge at Hunting Creek.
We also counted over 70 Hooded Mergansers and several Common Mergansers.
One Ring-necked Duck was present.
