Even though the monastery and our mountain top was socked in the clouds this
morning, we had 5 male Baltimore Orioles visiting the suet feeder. One was a
juvenile (his head and back was not yet black, sort of half-way, and the rest
which should be orange soon is still yellowish) who was very interested in what
was going on indoors. Several times today I found him clinging to the window
screen, looking in, and spending 4-5 minutes watching. There were also 4 Pine
Siskins at the sunflower feeder, and a young male Indigo Bunting who still had
a good bit of moulting to do.
When the thick fog/cloud cleared off after lunch I watched for hawks, and saw 4
Osprey, a Sharp-shinned, Cooper's, and 7 Red-tails migrating, as well as a good
few vultures and Blue Jays. There was also another Solitary Sandpiper poking
around the smaller pond.
