Hi Atlas volunteers!
Hope you've all been able to stay dry, despite the excessively rainy
weather we've been having. Here in Montgomery county, we're seeing many a
flooded basement, road, and over-topped river bank! Despite this wet
weather, Atlas effort continues to come in, which speaks to the intrepid
nature of VA birders! :)
*A couple important Atlas project updates:*
1) *Atlas Training Session this Saturday, April 29! *To be held at Emory
and Henry Bartlett-Crowe Field Station, just south of Glade Spring in SW
VA. This workshop will include field and data entry training by Dr. Steven
Hopp. Time: *8am-1pm*. It's not too late to sign up, so please email Dr.
Hopp if you're interested in participating in this event (shopp@xxxxxxx).
2) *Personal Breeding Data Summary Tool:* This was recently added to the
'Submit Data' page of the Atlas website (
http://amjv.org/index.php/vabba2/contacts).
If you're interested in summarizing the data that you have contributed to
the Atlas project, then visit the website and download both the How-To PDF
and the excel file to learn how you can easily download and organize your
Atlas eBird data.
3) *Atlas Data Training session at VSO Annual meeting: *It may not sound
glamorous, especially with the many field trips occurring at this year's
annual VSO meeting in Richmond. However, if you're interested in *improving
both your eBird and Atlas data skills, sign-up for my late afternoon
workshop on Saturday, May 6th!* We'll talk web tools, phone apps, and
mapping tools, as well as have some work time for folks to ask questions
and get individual help. It'll be a restful break from your busy days of
birding. ;)
